The reverse of the photograph has a handwritten identification in blue ink reading "VLADIMIR ASHKENAZY". He later developed a parallel career as a conductor, holding principal conductor and music director positions with several major orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (1987–1994), the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
