Released in August 1978 as a non-album single, it reached No. 27 on the UK charts. The cover photograph was taken by Martyn Goddard on Carnaby Street in London. "News of the World" is notable for being a non-album track and the only Jam A-side written and sung by bassist Bruce Foxton. Rick Buckler's signature appears at the top of the sleeve, though it has been partially covered by tape. The sleeve measures 18.4 × 18.3 cm The condition is very good+, with some tape staining and light wear.
