Eddie Rosner, a brilliant German-Polish jazz trumpeter of Jewish descent, fled Nazi Germany and later Poland, finding refuge in the USSR right at the start of WWII. This program dates to that legendary, brief window of early Soviet jazz dominance before Rosner was later sent to the Gulag in the late 1940s.
