Mstislav Rostropovich (1927-2007) was one of the greatest cellists of the 20th century and also a renowned conductor and human rights advocate. The typed caption on the reverse identifies the event as Rostropovich conducting the Britten-Pears Orchestra at Thorpeness in August 1984.
