In 1984, Gary Numan set up his own label, Numa Records, after parting ways with his previous label, Beggars Banquet. The first album to be released during the Numa Years was Berserker, which represented the shift in Numan’s sound as he moved toward a harder-edged digital aesthetic, while still honouring the analogue textures of his earlier work.
