Francis MacMillen was born inMarietta, Ohio on October 14, 1885. At the age of seven, he began studying atChicago Musical College, where his teacher wasBernhard Listemann. In the fall of 1902, he made his debut in a Vauxhall inBrussels, followed by a concert tour throughBelgium ,Germany andEngland.
